Great news from the South Australian Government. The ABC reports that Family Search has entered into an arrangement with the state Government to digitise BDM, social welfare, family history, and school admission records. And of course the best news is that, once digitised, the records will be online and free.
Until now it has been necessary to rely on other records to help establish BDM information or visit the South Australian Record Office in person and pay for copies of any vital records.
This digitisation program is particularly important for any genealogists living outside Adelaide, either in remote areas, interstate or overseas, who are researching South Australian ancestors. Thumbs up to the South Australian Government for their willingness to share these records with the well-respected Family Search organisation.
