To commemorate Memorial Day in the USA, two of the genealogy database giants are providing free access to their military records.
Fold3 is owned by Ancestry however, an additional subscription is usually required to access their records. Fold3's main focus is USA military records dating from the Revolutionary War right through to the late 20th century conflicts. However, they also have an excellent international category which covers World Wars 1 and 2 records for the UK and Commonwealth allies. They also have British collections for the Korean war.
Click here to go straight to Fold3's correct landing page for the free access. When I tested the freebie, I found I didn't need to log in to an account first in order to search or view the records. Access is free up to and including 25 May 2020.
My Heritage is providing free access to all their military records from 20-26 May 2020. When I tested the free access, I found you will need to have an account with them. I don't have a current subscription to My Heritage but was still able to search the free records when I logged on.
My Heritage has military records for the UK, Australia, USA, Canada as a minimum.
