Were your ancestors students in England or Wales between 1870 and 1914?

If they were, then it’s worth searching for them in Find My Past’s newly released England and Wales National School Records collection.

This makes it possible for you to discover your ancestors in their early lives, before they chose their profession, married or had families of their own.

Not only are the records indexed, they also contain colour images of the original admission registers and log books. Information contained in the images include:

· Student’s name and date of birth;

· Parents’ names;

· Address;

· Individual student’s attendance;

· Reasons for any absence;

· School visitors; and

· Daily activities at the school.

It’s not often we find records of our ancestors as children. This collection therefore provides a unique insight into ancestors’ lives during the latter part of the 19th century up to the beginning of the First World War.

Did you find a family member in the England and Wales School records? Did they provide previously unknown information about your family’s history? I’d love to hear of your good news stories in the Comments section below.
